Sign project was presented by George Dragon of Cicogna Electric & Sign.  Proposing two raceway signs and a pole/cabinent sign.  After hearing that the Comittee would not approve the pole sign, Mr. Dragon proposed using a monument sign instead.  Mr. Dragon presented a 8' tall monument sign (5' of signage and approximatley 3' of base) during the meeting.  City Planning not did have the opportunity to review the new proposal prior to the Design Review meeting.

Committee Concerns, Comments, Questions

  • Is the monument sign/pole sign needed?  The Committee feels that you will see and recognize the building long before you see the signs.
  • Can the letters be resized on the wall signs?  The letters appear to be scrunched on the raceway.
  • Can you make the base of the monument sign the same material and color of the main building?
  • Can the newly proposed monument sign be reduced to 4x8' or 4x6'.
  • Can the monument sign be moved to further west to 79th and St. Clair?
  • The sign contractor is amenable to moving the sign and moving to 4x8' instead of 5x10'.

James Amendola from SCSDC provided comments on the sign proposal.  Would like to see the base of the sign be the same color and material of the building facade.

Committee would like to see the monument sign resubmited with reduced signage, in similar color and materials (brick) as the main building, and moved between the walkway and side lot line on the west end of the lot.  Can be resubmitted for review electronically.

Motion to approve the two raceway signs, but not the monument sign is not as presented during the meeting today.  Voted and approved by all members present.
